POLICICLO

Politecnico Bike Repair Workshop

Policiclo is an association managed by Politecnico students volunteering to run a bike repair workshop located in the Bovisa Candiani Campus (Building B6) and launched in 2014 (take a look at the photos of the opening day).

Policiclo volunteers offer help with bike repairs to anybody in need, in a year there are around 100-150 people asking for their services. The workshop is open to everybody, not only to the Politecnico community but also to people living in the neighbourhood, according to the University Third Mission. Moreover, Policiclo helps with the repairs for the Politecnico bike fleet, assigned to various departments and administrative structures.

The bike repair workshop has an important cultural and educational value since it teaches people how to take care themselves of their bike, introducing them to the cycling world and pushing for a behavioural change. On top of raising awareness on sustainable mobility, Policiclo also give an important contribution to circular economy by reusing parts of old bicycles and merging them to build new ones.

Policiclo values are based on the Agenda 2030referring in particular to Sustainable Development Goals no. 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and 4 (Quality Education).

Policiclo has always collaborated with the Sustainability Office and takes part in the initiatives organized in the framework of the Città Studi Campus Sostenibile project, with special openings and games. The Sustainability Office also donated various materials to Policiclo, consumables items and not.
