A new project for circular economy
As part of the Città Studi Sustainable Campus project and of the VENTO Project, Politecnico di Milano has recently launched a collaboration with Cingomma, the brand produced and distributed by Recrea srl. Recrea srl is a company of Italian artisans that creates fashion accessories by hand, by reusing used tires and inner tubes of bicycle. A concrete example of circular economy.
Città Studi Campus Sostenibile has the aim of experimenting with models to promote quality of life and environmental sustainability through the active contribution of the university community and residents in the neighbourhood. The collaboration between Politecnico di Milano and Cingomma aims to contribute to spreading the principles of the circular economy, raising awareness among the Politecnico community and citizenship on the increasingly important issue of waste prevention today.
Politecnico di Milano has committed to increase good environmental sustainability practices, in line with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) envisaged by the 2030 Agenda of the UN. The university offers the use of some of its spaces to allow the implementation of experimental collection of the project, reuse and recycling of materials. Within this new project, the reference objective is the no. 12 goal - Responsible production and consumption – and to reach this allowing the placement in the university of special containers for the collection of inner tubes and used bicycle tires.
The University’s merchandising has also launched a new Green Collection, to contribute to the spread of a culture of sustainability. The creations made by Cingomma, two types of elegant belts created through the circularity of the initiative, are available in the Official Merchandise shop and catalogue of Politecnico di Milano.
