U-MOB Project
The U-MOB project was launched in 2016 thanks to the funding obtained through the Life Program of the European Union, Politecnico di Milano takes part in it since 2017.
The aim of the project is the creation of a network to facilitate the exchange and transfer of knowledge about sustainable mobility best practices among European Universities, in order to reduce the CO2 emissions thanks to the improved mobility habits of the University communities. Building on the knowledge that University are important poles of attraction for frequent travelers and that accessing campuses leads to intense mobility flows that are one of the most compromising issues for Universities environmental sustainability, this project wants to promote sustainable mobility by raising awareness on the topic and helping mobility managers providing training courses and good practices that could be replicated easily.
Many initiatives have been organized in the framework of this project throughout the years, among which these are the ones involving our University:
- “Best practice award”, contest held in 2018 to award the best mobility practice implemented by one of the Universities partners of the project
- "Video contest on accessibility and sustainable mobility at Universities" contest held in 2019 and open to the whole university community (students, professors and personnel). The videos competing in the contest among the Polimi community can be found on our YouTube channel
- Creation of a training course on Sustainable Mobility Management for Universities
- European conferences on Sustainable Mobility at Universities, held in 2019 in Krakow and in 2021 in Bergamo
The project came to an end in November 2021, but some Universities have agreed to keep collaborating though the U-MOB Network in the future.
